Benefits

The advantage of sliding side-reins compared to solid side reins is the possibility for the horse to stretch long and low to loosen its neck and long back muscle. Instead of being held in a frame, the horse has an adjustable frame it can move its neck in and reach the position of self-carriage. In addition, the sliding side-reins provide more possibilities to adjust height, length, and frame of movement.

About the Product

Sliding side reins are made out of polypropylene. The material is pleasantly soft, has high tensile strength (290 daN), is scrubbable, abrasion-resistant, and easy to care for: It will look like new just by simply washing it. It does not absorb water or moisture.

The reins can be adjusted infinitely and individually in length for each horse because every 2inch an eyelet is incorporated into the material, so any length can be adjusted. See image.

The material is very light and runs well in the bridle rings and does not hinder the horse’s mouth in any way. The sliding side reins are equipped with 4 snap hooks, they are very easy to buckle in: two ends are looped through the surcingle rings on the side, the length can already be adjusted here. Then the reins run through the bridle rings either back to the side of the surcingle (Laufer reins) or between the legs to the surcingle ring located at the girth.

Size runs round about 8.5 feet (2.50 – 2.70 Meter)

Sliding side reins are available as “Lauffer reins”, which are two separate reins, or as “Vienna reins”, which start as one rein and then split into two. Lauffer reins can also be attached as Vienna reins. The Lauffer reins provide the horse with a lateral restriction while the Vienna reins leave the possibility to turn the head to the side but restrict the movement up and downward.
